Information on Lytton Park Neighbourhood
The first home in Lytton Park was built by the Snider Family in 1828, and between 1890 and 1900, more houses soon started springing up across the once empty and green area. By 1912, the area which was then in Northern Toronto formed part of the amalgamated area of the City of Toronto.
Soon after the annexation of the area, schools and public transportation hubs were constructed, and by 1921 John Ross Robertson Public School was built. Since then, the area has experienced major development and urbanization, and much of the natural beauty was preserved in local parks.
Today, the area offers ample entertainment for both young and old, including those with children. Lytton Sunken Gardens and the popular Lytton Park features tennis courts, children’s playgrounds, outdoor bowling, and picnic areas which are filled with residents during the summer months.
For those who have a keen eye, the North Toronto Lawn Bowling & Croquet Club is also conveniently placed within Lytton Park.
On the commercial side of things, high-end clothing boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and small bars offer some late-night entertainment for young individuals. Although the young population doesn’t make up a large portion of the total residency, superior and modern condos have been seen to be an attractive investment or renting opportunity in recent years.
Architecture is somewhat balanced, with influences of European-styled homes, to modern apartments towering over the Lytton skyline. In comparison to other neighbourhoods in Toronto, Lytton’s crime rate is about 60% lower than the rest of the city. This has made it one of the safest neighbourhoods to reside in. Because of this, families are fleeing to take up occupied homes and apartments available in the area.
Surprisingly, apartment prices have been decreasing, with an average annual decrease of 4%. A one-bedroom apartment is set to cost around CAD 1,693, while a larger two-bedroom apartment is priced at CAD 2,395 per month.
Home prices have been soaring in recent months, with the median home price sitting comfortably at CAD 2.5 million, being available on the market for around 10 days. Real estate investors who are keen to splurge a bit more can expect to pay anything between CAD 3 million to CAD 5 million for a detached home, or a modern apartment in the upper market side of Lytton.

There are currently a few pre-construction investments starting at CAD 1.18 million for new developments situated at Anderson St & Dryden Blvd in Whitby.
