Between 1930 and 1967, Long Branch was a partially independent municipality, which was known as the Village of Long Branch. The village would form part of the City of Etobicoke and become amalgamated into the City of Toronto during the later stages of the 20th century.
Although most of the neighbourhood now forms part of the City of Toronto, Long Branch is still a highly independent community, looking to uphold its charming character and history against the sprawling development of surrounding areas.
Encircling Long branches are the residential areas of New Toronto and Alderwood, which are also now prominent neighbourhoods for both families and young professionals who enjoy the tranquility of nature and Lake Ontario.
