Situated along the banks of Lake Ontario, in the village of Long Branch, tucked within the confines of the former city of Etobicoke. The Long Branch neighbourhood is bordered by both land and sea, with the waterfront community stretching along with the southern parts of the region, and the Etobicoke Creek and Marie Curtis Park in the west.

The parks and community recreational amenities have drawn in both young and old residents, as the local population of roughly 11,400 enjoys the serenity offered by both nature and commercial enterprises.

Many families have chosen Long Branch simply for its location, boasting ample parks, public transportation, schools, and the Long Branch Public Library. Lenford Park and Long Branch Park are located close to Lake Ontario, which offers not only beautiful views of the marina and the city, there are updated playground facilities and picnic areas also available.

Notable businesses, churches, and local merchants have now also taken up space within Long Branch, but the area remains mainly a high residential neighbourhood, catering to young individuals, families, and retirees.

Information on Long Branch Neighbourhood

The governance for Long Branch stemmed from the late 1800s when Colonel Samuel Smith would grant a portion of his land to developers and local farmers. After the passing of Colonel Smith, the existing land was redeveloped into a summer resort.

Between 1930 and 1967, Long Branch was a partially independent municipality, which was known as the Village of Long Branch. The village would form part of the City of Etobicoke and become amalgamated into the City of Toronto during the later stages of the 20th century.

Although most of the neighbourhood now forms part of the City of Toronto, Long Branch is still a highly independent community, looking to uphold its charming character and history against the sprawling development of surrounding areas.

Encircling Long branches are the residential areas of New Toronto and Alderwood, which are also now prominent neighbourhoods for both families and young professionals who enjoy the tranquility of nature and Lake Ontario.

While located on the outskirts of Toronto, there is still a lot to see and do, as community prospects ensure the revival of the area will continue for generations to come.

Marie Curtis Park, Long Branch Arena, Birch Park, and Len Ford Park are some of the main reasons why so many families have opted to migrate from the inner city to Long Branch. There are also ample schools and public transportation options available, with the 501 Streetcar running along main roads.
